Parent Consultation

Young children’s behavior can often be puzzling. Sometimes a child seems to change overnight from a calm, quiet, loving baby into a defiant, strong-willed, tantrum-prone toddler or from a curious, energetic toddler into a clingy, anxious preschooler. Changes like these can be part of a child’s typical development, and may still be challenging for the parents and caregivers having to manage them. Parent Consultation is way for us to think about a specific challenge, understand the need behind the behavior, and work together to come up with strategies for responding to the child’s needs.

Parent Consultation might be right for you if…

  • you have specific concerns about your child’s behavior

  • you’re looking for a shorter-term, solution-focused approach

  • your child’s teachers or care providers are reporting challenging behaviors

Parent Consultation can include observations of the child and conversations with the child’s teachers or care providers, if appropriate.

Please contact me for more information or to determine if parent consultation is the right fit for you and your family. Please note, parent consultation is not classified as therapy and as such is not reimbursable by insurance.

In addition to working on a specific issue related to your child, I also offer a more general Parent Consultation Program around building confidence as a parent of young children. You can find more information about this program and sign up for weekly emails and other resources at Parenthood Puzzle or by clicking the button below.
